How long does it take to hear back about my submission?You will receive notice that your submission has been received within one week. I decision about publishing your book will be made in thirty days.

How do I submit my manuscript for consideration?You will find a detailed outline of the submission process in our author’s submission guidelines.

Can I provide input on cover design and formatting?Though the editorial staff curates the appearance of each book we welcome input from authors. Some custom requests may require more author investment.

How are royalties calculated and paid?Royalties are paid at the rate of 20% and an annual distribution of royalties is made each year during the first two weeks of July.

What is your approach to author support and communication?As a small press we pride ourselves on regular support and communication with our authors.

What rights do I retain as the author?The author retains intellectual copyright to all material, though The Liminality Press holds copyright over the book in toto; no portions may be duplicated and printed in any form without express permission.

Do you accept simultaneous submissions?Because we respond to authors rather promptly, we ask that you wait to submit your manuscript to other publishers while it is under consideration by us.

What does your publishing company specialize in?The Liminality Press specializes in titles that seriously grapple with the phenomen of liminality and issues related to it.

How involved will I be in the editing process?The author will be consulted throughout the process, especially as regards significant proposed changes. Some copyediting and formatting standards are applied across all our titles.

What marketing and promotion services do you offer?We broadcast new and featured titles through our webpage and social media, and contact relevant journals and digital media for reviews.

How can I track my book sales and earnings?We can provide an update on sales upon request.

Are you open to working with first-time authors?Yes! We are especially interested in encouraging first time authors to bring their new ideas to this new platform!

Do you offer any resources for book signings, events, or author appearances?Special book signings and author appearances are negotiated between the author and the entity sponsoring their promotion.

Can I request changes after publication?Once the book is in publication it is very rare to make modifications to the content of the book. That would require an additional investment by the author.

What are the terms of your publishing contracts?Each author contributes $500 toward the publication of each book. This covers the many costs of publication. The author agrees to a date by which the completed book will be submitted. Our editorial staff shepherds the project forward at every stage of publication.

What is your policy on copyright and piracy protection?The Liminality Press holds copyright of our titles. Therefore, no portion of any book may be copied, printed, or resold without express permission of the house.

Will my book be available in print, digital, or both?Our practice is to publish all books in print and digital formats.

What is your submission review process?Your manuscript will be reviewed by our two editors. If a consensus is reached by both that your book is suitable for our press, you will be offered a contract.

How do you handle distribution and sales?We handle printing, sales, and distribution through a third party.

What is the expected timeline from acceptance to publication?It is reasonable to expect that following the executed contract and full completion of the manuscript by the author, the book may in publication within six months.
